\n\tChristina Applegate<\/a> is finally out of the hospital after a months-long medical stay.<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to initial reporting by TMZ<\/em><\/a>, the discharge follows a lengthy period of care related to her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis (MS)<\/a>. A source close to the actress recently provided an update to People<\/em><\/a>, assuring fans that she is now \u201cdoing very well\u201d at home.<\/p>\n

\n\tNews of the hospitalization first surfaced shortly after her new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes<\/em><\/a>, hit shelves in March. Applegate was admitted to a medical facility late that same month. At the time, her representative declined to comment on whether the visit was related to MS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tApplegate addressed the public\u2019s concern via an Instagram post<\/a> in April. She shared a photo of her book alongside a coffee mug and thanked her followers for their support while acknowledging the difficult reality of her condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWhat Is Multiple Sclerosis (MS)?\t<\/h2>\n

\n\tAccording to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society<\/a>, MS is \u201can unpredictable disease of the central nervous system\u201d (this includes the optic nerves, spinal cord, and brain).<\/p>\n

\n\tSymptoms depend on where inflammation and damage are actively occurring at any given time, meaning a patient\u2019s experience can change drastically from year to year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tCommon symptoms<\/a> include fatigue, mood changes, tingling, numbness, pain, mobility struggles, and vision or memory impairments, according to the Mayo Clinic. The condition can also cause muscle weakness and severe gastrointestinal distress.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tApplegate\u2019s Health Journey\t<\/h2>\n

\n\tApplegate received her official MS diagnosis<\/a> in 2021, but her symptoms began years earlier.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy symptoms had started in the early part of 2021, and it was, like, literally just tingling on my toes,\u201d Applegate said in a 2024 interview with Good Morning America<\/em><\/a> co-anchor Robin Roberts. \u201cAnd by the time we started shooting in the summer of that same year, I was being brought to set in a wheelchair. Like, I couldn\u2019t walk that far.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tApplegate regularly discusses these daily struggles on \u201cMeSsy<\/a>,\u201d a podcast she co-hosts with her friend and fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler<\/a>, who\u2019s been living with MS since 2002.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor three years since I was diagnosed, I\u2019ve been in the hospital upwards of 30 times,\u201d she recalled during one episode. \u201cThat is unimaginable, OK? They\u2019ve done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite the emotional and physical challenges, Applegate maintains a resilient attitude and her trademark determination to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHealth issues are a constant for me, but I\u2019m a strong chick, and I\u2019m getting stronger and better every day,\u201d she wrote in her April message to fans. \u201cI\u2019m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I\u2019ll be back with more to say soon enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
