\n\t\u201cYeah, I do. One of the many gifts,\u201d Faris said. \u201cIt turns out there\u2019s a correlation between drinking and depression<\/a>, for me, for sure. I had to take a step back and not self-sabotage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHow Hormones Have Helped\u00a0\t<\/h2>\n

\n\tFaris also attributes a better-regulated hormonal system<\/a> to her improved mental health.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI finally got on hormones, a hormone patch,\u201d Faris said. \u201cIt made a huge difference for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHandler<\/a> related to the struggle. Recalling a time when she had \u201cabsolutely no estrogen,\u201d the host admitted the experience triggered \u201cthe closest I\u2019ve ever had to what people describe as depression.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s the lowest I\u2019ve ever felt without having a solution, and it\u2019s almost like a loss of hopefulness,\u201d Handler said. However, within 24 hours of increasing her dosage, the comedian said she began to feel hopeful again.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tEmbracing Her Comedy Roots\u00a0\t<\/h2>\n

\n\tStepping away from alcohol and balancing her hormones helped Faris view her career in a different way \u2014 specifically her complicated feelings about being known as a comedic actress.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe landed her big break playing Cindy Campbell in the 2000 spoof film Scary Movie<\/em>. Looking back, she admitted she spent her 20s envying actors who found fame through different, non-comedic roles. For years, being a comedy star felt like an \u201cill-fitting shoe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAlong the way and in the arrogance of my 20s, I did feel envious of people who got their big break in a different way, and I think that is a really ungracious idea,\u201d Faris said. \u201cIt was only in the last year, I think, that I really started to notice and appreciate if and when people recognized me, they would usually smile,\u201d she continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress is currently back on set filming the 2026 Scary Movie<\/em> revival, and her mindset couldn\u2019t be more different today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile working on the new film, Faris said she had an emotional moment with Marlon Wayans. She told Handler she\u2019d always regretted not being able to formally express her gratitude to his brother, Keenan Ivory Wayans, who directed the original 2000 project.<\/p>\n
