\n\tLily Allen<\/a> is reflecting on how much her life on the road has changed since giving up drugs and alcohol<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent interview with The Cut<\/em><\/a>, the 41-year-old musician shared what it feels like to hit the road in support of her latest album, West End Girl<\/em><\/a>, completely sober.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s \u2026 different because I\u2019m not drunk and high, which I always have been in the past when I\u2019ve been onstage,\u201d Allen said. \u201cThis is the first tour that I\u2019ve done sober.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAllen has been sober since 2019, but now that she\u2019s back on the road, she\u2019s had to relearn how to fill her time. She joked that backstage \u201cdoesn\u2019t feel very rock and roll\u201d compared to the party atmosphere of her 20s.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLike, we come offstage, and we play Monopoly. And sometimes I get into my pajamas, and I just go straight into the car and back to my hotel room,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe admitted a small part of her occasionally misses the \u201cpost-show celebrations,\u201d but she doesn\u2019t miss the aftereffects of her old lifestyle one bit.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLeaving Hangovers Behind\t<\/h2>\n

\n\t\u201cI really don\u2019t miss the f\u2014ing hangovers<\/a> and getting to the airport the next day with a pounding head and having to wear sunglasses and stinking of alcohol,\u201d Allen said.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrading those rough mornings for early bedtimes has ultimately given her the space to focus on her real priorities.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel like I have a pretty good grasp on where I am and what my role is in the world and not necessarily where I\u2019m heading, but I also don\u2019t feel the need to control everything,\u201d she added. \u201cI can just live in it and enjoy the good bits and not be too perturbed by the bad bits.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSkipping the showbiz party scene also means she can balance her career and be a present mom<\/a> to her two teenage daughters, who are 13 and 14.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy life is pretty good, you know? I\u2019ve done really well this year,\u201d Allen concluded. \u201cI\u2019ve gotten myself into a place where I\u2019m financially stable and self-sufficient. I\u2019m setting a good example for my kids. I\u2019m eating well. I\u2019m going on nice holidays. I\u2019m booked, and I\u2019m busy. How could I not be hopeful?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
