\n\tWhitney Port<\/a> expected a little downtime after her hernia surgery. Instead, even putting on a seatbelt hurt.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 41-year-old The Hills<\/em> alum shared an update on a recent episode of her With Whit <\/em><\/a>podcast, explaining that recovery has been much harder than she anticipated. Now, she\u2019s postponing the embryo transfer she had planned for the end of October.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat a nightmare that was. What a freaking nightmare,\u201d she said. \u201cI completely underestimated everything about that entire surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\tA Harder Recovery Than Expected\t<\/h2>\n

\n\tPort had previously shared that she wanted to have the hernia repaired<\/a> before continuing IVF<\/a>. She thought it would be similar to an egg retrieval<\/a> and scheduled it after Fashion Week.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was like, \u2018Oh my God, I timed this so perfectly. I\u2019m going to go to Fashion Week, and then I\u2019m going to come home and get this hernia surgery, and it\u2019s going to be like forced relaxation for me,\u2019\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n

\n\tInstead, she was left in \u201cconstant discomfort.\u201d Surgeons made three incisions in her abdomen, and afterward, even walking and wearing a seatbelt hurt. In a recent Instagram video<\/a>, she showed the bruising and scars from the procedure.<\/p>\n

\n\tHernia surgery repairs a weak area that allows tissue to push through and form a bulge. According to the National Health Service<\/a>, an inguinal hernia repair can take four to six weeks to recover from, sometimes longer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tGiving Herself More Time\t<\/h2>\n

\n\tPort still wants to move forward with the transfer. She just needs more time to recover first. \u201cMentally, I\u2019m super ready for the transfer and just so ready to get it done with, but I just feel too weak,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor now, she plans to wait another month and a half to two months. \u201cI just don\u2019t think this month is enough time to really fully recover,\u201d she said. \u201cI really want my body to be in optimal shape for the transfer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter two difficult weeks, she\u2019s finally starting to feel better. \u201cI\u2019m feeling hopeful that I can feel what it\u2019s going to feel like to be normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
