Some of the staff recognized him from his years playing Eric Matthews<\/a> on Boy Meets World<\/em><\/a>, and one nurse broke out his character\u2019s familiar \u201cFeeny Call.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFor some reason on this day in that hospital, I was more famous than I\u2019ve ever been in my life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m lying on the gurney in the hallway, because you know all the rooms are taken; it was a packed day. And I\u2019m lying in the hallway there, and one of the nurses comes up to me and does the \u2018Feeny Call<\/a>,\u2019 \u201d Friedle recalled.<\/p>\n \n\tFans will remember the call as Matthews\u2019 drawn-out greeting to Mr. Feeny, played by William Daniels. Friedle heard it again while handing over his credit card to pay his copay.<\/p>\n \n\tThe timing was a little surreal, but he appreciated the staff\u2019s kindness. \u201cThey couldn\u2019t have been sweeter there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \n\tDoctors eventually diagnosed Friedle with a kidney stone. These hard deposits (made from minerals and acid salts) form inside the kidneys and are notoriously painful to pass. According to the National Kidney Foundation<\/a>, kidney stones send more than 500,000 patients to the emergency room every year.<\/p>\n \n\tHaving an answer brought some peace of mind, but Friedle isn\u2019t totally in the clear just yet. He explained that he now has to let the stone pass naturally.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cSo I\u2019ve got three days of just waiting to see,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m still in the midst of this thing.
