Healio Gastroenterology is excited to announce the nominees for its annual Disruptive Innovators Awards in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Individuals who changed the face of the specialty and pushed the status quo toward betterment of the field will be recognized during a live event at ACG Annual Meeting Oct. 9-14 in Nashville.

Loftus Jr., MD, chief medical editor of Healio Gastroenterology, and Ugo Iroku, MD, MHS, cofounder of the Association of Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists (ABGH), are joined by Amrita Sethi, MD, founder and president of Women in Endoscopy and Uzma Siddiqui, MD, the organization’s vice president; Scrubs & Heels cofounders Aline Charabaty, MD, and Anita Afzali, MD, MPH, who also serves as secretary general of the World Gastroenterology Organisation; Laurie Keefer, PhD, Rome Foundation board member, and Sarah Ballou, PhD, chair of the Rome Foundation’s GastroPsych group; and William D. Chey, MD, ACG president, to unveil the nominees in nine categories.

The categories are:

  1. Lifetime Disruptor, given in collaboration with Women in Endoscopy;
  2. Rising Disruptor, given in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic;
  3. Clinical Innovation, given in collaboration with ACG;
  4. Woman Disruptor of the Year, given in collaboration with Scrubs & Heels;
  5. Healio Social Media Influencer, given in collaboration with Healio Community;
  6. The Patient Voice, given in collaboration with ABGH;
  7. Health Equity Award, given in collaboration with the World Gastroenterology Organisation;
  8. Partner in Practice, given in collaboration with the Rome Foundation; and
  9. Industry Breakthrough, given in collaboration with Healio AI.
