Busy Philipps just received the best news a person could hope for after a brain tumor diagnosis: a clean scan.

At the New York City premiere of her new CBS series Cupertino, the 47-year-old actress revealed that her oncologist officially cleared her latest brain MRI.

“I chatted with my oncologist today,” Philipps told People. “She called to tell me my scan was clean.”

A Surprise Diagnosis and Two Surgeries

The news comes months after Philipps learned she had a rare brain tumor following a full-body scan in February.

The actress had just landed her role on Cupertino when she received the unexpected diagnosis. She underwent surgery in early March to remove the tumor, then had a second surgery after developing an infection at the incision site.

Still, Philipps began filming the CBS series just weeks after her first procedure — something she said she felt determined to do.

“There was no choice,” she said of taking the role. “I was going to do it.”

Her Message to Women: Be Your Own Advocate

Philipps’s doctor gave her the clean-scan news, then wanted to know all about her new show.

“She called to tell me my scan was clean,” Philipps said. “So when’s the show come out? Is it this week or next week? I was like, ‘The premiere is tonight.’ She’s like, ‘Amazing.’”

Since going public with her diagnosis, Philipps said strangers have come up to thank her for being so open about what happened. And the experience gave her a message she wants women to hear: “Listen to your body, women.”

The support has meant a lot during her recovery.

“I’ve been overwhelmed with love and support, and it’s been very nice,” she told People, adding, “I mean, what? Are people gonna be mean?”
